The rare grape varietal Caberent Gernischt is now extinct in Europe but lives on at Château Changyu-Castel's Beiyujia Vineyard in Shandong Province, the vines descendants of cuttings brought to China from Bordeaux in 1892. Made of 100 percent Cabernet Gernisch from vines 15-plus years old on average, this wine's aroma and flavors include dried cherries, cedar, herbs, cocoa and black pepper.
