The "Cantina dei Vini Tipici dell'Aretino" of Ponte a Chiani is situated at the gates of Arezzo.
It is located in a hill territory with a millenary wine growing tradition, as it can be easily seen, for instance, in the finding of millstones used by the Romans for the production of wine or in the precious coral vases that recall scenes of a wine nature.

In the Middle Ages, too, the hystorical importance of wine growing and producing for the economy of the Pievi (middle age parish churches) and of the parsonages is evidenced by the ancient manuscripts of the Bishopric of Arezzo.

The "Cantina dei Vini Tipici dell'Aretino" is a cooperative with more than five hundred members, owners of about eight hundred hectars of vineyards in the province of Arezzo. Established in 1970, the company began operating the following year by transforming 1.000 tons of grapes into wine.
The original structures bave been modernized and the number of members and quantity of grapes have increased up to more than 10.000.000 litres. The annual average contribution of grapes is about 7.000 tons, which are divided in three main categories of wine: Indicazione Toscana - Valdichiana D.O.C. - Chianti D.O.C.G.
